Kitsap Regional Library inspires our community to dream more, learn more, do more and be more.
Kitsap Regional Library serves Kitsap County's 258,000 residents through nine community library locations, online access to library materials and services, a traveling bookmobile, and outreach services for the homebound and youth.
The Library has more than 400,000 physical items in its collection, bolstered by online access to downloadable e-books, audiobooks and music. The Library also provides free access to dozens of online research tools.
Our annual goals are derived from our Vision 2020 Strategic Plan.
Kitsap Regional Library is always interested in hearing from job applicants who wish to serve the public by becoming a member of our staff. Jobs available to the public are posted on this web site.
Give us a Hand. Hundreds of Kitsap residents volunteer each year to help the Library, donating hours worth more than $550,000 to the library system. Volunteers serve as technology tutors, support programs in our branches and help with system-wide projects and events. Most school districts now require high school students to perform community service tasks and the library is a great place for students to earn those hours.
Kitsap Regional Library is governed by a five member Board of Trustees. Board members are appointed by the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners and serve five-year terms. The Board sets policy for the library system and hires and holds accountable the Library Director, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the Library.
Tax limitations, growth in library use and rising costs have made it harder for the Library to provide high-quality service. The Kitsap Regional Library Foundation raises, manages and allocates funds to support library programs that benefit all the communities in Kitsap. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible.
Friends of the Library groups are organized at most library branches to promote the libraries in their communities. Through fundraising events such as book sales, Friends groups raise money for items not in the Library's budget. If you are looking for a way to get involved in your community and if you love your library, consider joining the Friends group that supports your branch.
Kitsap Regional Library's Board approves policies that govern the library system's operation. Policies are designed to assure access to library materials, to clearly outline the rights and responsibilities of library users and to explain the use of library-owned facilities.
