As the calendar flips from September to October, it is undeniable that we are firmly in the throes of autumn. The changing season brings us all the classic signs of fall: overcast skies and rainy weather, our friends and neighbors proudly wearing Seahawks' colors and back to school madness! Not to worry beleaguered parents and stressed-out students, Kitsap Regional Library has your academic needs covered. In addition to being able to check out a plethora of educational books, magazines and multimedia at any of our county-wide locations, your Library card gives you access to amazing online academic resources. I'm going to highlight three excellent academic resources that we offer: Brainfuse, Proquest and the Gale suite of databases. Know that this only scratches the surface of the online research help that we offer. You can explore all the various databases and other research tools your Library card gives you access to here.


Brainfuse is an excellent resource that offers a wide variety of online academic services for students of all grades. Using this resource students can receive live, online writing assistance or submit an essay for detailed analysis and editing suggestions, receive expert assistance and support learning a language via the Foreign Language Lab, and even access live, online tutoring on almost any subject via Brainfuse's online classroom. There are even a whole host of resources for adult learners, from job seeking and resume help to U.S. Citizenship testing.

Gale Databases - U.S. History, World History, Literature Resource Center, Biography in Context, Opposing Viewpoints in Context, Testing and Education Reference Center

The Gale suite of databases is a very powerful resource that offers an incredibly wide variety of research and educational tools. The U.S. and World History databases have thousands of full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, images, videos, audio files websites covering the most significant people, events and topics in U.S. and World History. Opposing Viewpoints in Context provides in-depth insight into current social issues via thousands of continuously updated viewpoints, topic overviews, full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, statistics, images, videos, audio files, websites. Biography in Context offers similar in-depth and robust coverage of thousands of the world's most influent people, both contemporary and historical, while the Literature Resource Center is an excellent resource for all of your literary criticism and analysis needs. Finally, the Testing and Education Reference Center offers amazing test preparation resources covering everything from college entrance exams to professional licensing tests.


​The Proquest database offers incredible access to news and current events by allowing you to search through thousands of journal and newspaper articles, official reports, audio and video clips, broadcast transcripts and many other primary source documents. Proquest uses four robust databases - Business, Health & Medicine, Academic Research and News - to provide incredible coverage on subjects from Science to History to Current Events and more.
