We'll be closed this coming Monday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. In Kitsap, the 23rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program will take place at the Fairgrounds at 10 a.m. Admission is free.
This day is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the question Dr. King asked of all of us: "What are you doing for others?" While there are certainly many opportunities on Monday to serve, there are countless ways to be involved in our community in service throughout the year.
So what do you care about? Are you a lifelong animal lover? Kitsap Humane Society might be a good place to start. Is making food for others an important part of your family? There are several local food banks who would love some help! And if you're interested in environmental stewardship, the county has several parks that would cherish some care and attention.
You can find many great volunteer opportunities at Volunteermatch.org or at United Way of Kitsap County's volunteer directory. If you can't find something you'd be interested in on these sites, let us know - we love to help people find good places to get involved with in their communities!
