Bookmobile Services are offered primarily in rural areas of Kitsap County that are farthest from the system's nine physical branch libraries. KRL's Bookmobile makes more than 30 stops every two weeks in different areas of Kitsap County. The mobile branch is open to the public almost 70 hours per month.
At the bookmobile you can find books for readers of all ages, audiobooks, DVDs and current magazines. You can also pick up holds and obtain a library card.
Items checked out from the Bookmobile may be returned to any other KRL branch. Items checked out from other branches may be returned to the Bookmobile.

Bookmobile History at KRL
Kitsap Regional Library’s first bookmobile, Molly, began operations in May 1947, making nine runs every two weeks. When a second bookmobile, “Little Chief” was purchased in 1954, Molly was reserved for school runs. The names were chosen by children via a contest. The two original KRL bookmobiles were later replaced by "Buttercup," a yellow van that was in use from 1982-2008. A major fundraising effort by the KRL Foundation led to the purchase of our latest Bookmobile, “Violet.” We now average 780 bookmobile patrons per month.
