"Violet" is our custom built bookmobile - paid for entirely by donations. She is the latest in a succession of bookmobiles serving the Kitsap community since 1947.
The Bookmobile provides the same services, community connections, and resources as the other nine library locations. Library cards may be obtained, the Bookmobile can be selected for hold pick up, and materials are available for readers of all ages. You can even pick up a ferry schedule, voter registration form and other community resource. Items checked out from the Bookmobile may be returned to other locations and vice versa. Loan periods are slightly longer (see You Can Keep It For... below) to accommodate the bookmobile's bi-weekly schedule.
Violet makes an appearance at about 20 different locations over the course of two weeks, many far from any other library location. Both regularly scheduled routes and bookmobile event appearances can be found in the calendar on this page, our quarterly Inspire Magazine,or print a current PDF copy.
For further information about the Bookmobile location, please call 360-405-9112 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Bookmobile History at Kitsap Regional Library
Kitsap Regional Library’s first bookmobile, Molly, began operations in May 1947, making nine runs every two weeks. When a second bookmobile, “Little Chief” was purchased in 1954, Molly was reserved for school runs. The names were chosen by children via a contest. The two original KRL bookmobiles were later replaced by "Buttercup," a yellow van that was in use from 1982-2008. A major fundraising effort by the KRL Foundation led to the purchase of our latest Bookmobile, “Violet.” We now average 780 bookmobile patrons per month.
