Year-End Highlights

Library Services & Programs

  • Live Homework Help – online tutoring service for 4-12 grades
    • 1,450 tutoring sessions
    • 508 hrs of tutoring in math, science, social studies & English
  • Summer Reading “Paws, Claws, Scales & Tales”
    • 7,800 children participated, 57% increase
    • 51% completed the 10 hour reading challenge
    • 6,681 children and parents attended educational
    and entertaining events
  • Winter Reading – adult reading program
    • 2,000 adults participated
  • Volunteer Program
    350 Library volunteers
    4,000 volunteer hours, $74,000 value
  • Click! Computer Training – computer classes and tutoring for novice computer users
    • 43 Volunteer Trainers/Tutors
    • Almost 7,000 hours of basic computer training

Library Collection

  • More books, movies and music
    • 740,698 total Library materials
  • “Classics2Go” – new collection of the top 75 classic titles, in student-friendly formats
  • “Taste for Reading” – promotion increased circulation of cookbooks by 80% in November
  • “Most Educational Booth” – KRL won the blue ribbon at the 2006 Home & Garden Expo

Facilities

  • Grand re-opening Downtown Bremerton Library (April)
  • Groundbreaking for new Little Boston Library (June)
  • Renovation of Sylvan Way Library (ongoing)
  • New replacement bookmobile (in-service June ‘07)
