The library typically acquires books published by commercial publishers and reviewed a major review journal. Self-published books are not routinely selected unless the book is reviewed positively in an established review source. However, exceptions may be made if the book has significant local content or interest.

Authors are welcome to submit their book as a purchase suggestion. You can reach us by filling out the form below. In making purchase decisions, library staff are guided by selection criteria that are included in the Collection Development Policy.

If authors choose to donate a copy of their work, the library maintains the right to decide if it will be included in the cataloged collection. Several branches have Local Author collections and donated books may be added to these collections. Materials that are donated become property of the Kitsap Regional Library and as such cannot be returned to the donor.
