Kitsap Regional Library has received three proposals for siting a new Silverdale Library.
The first proposal, from Kitsap County, suggests two possible locations for the new library on the site of the Central Kitsap Community Campus, near the YMCA.
The second proposal involves an existing 19,626-square-foot building located at 3888 NW Randall Way, just west of the community campus.
The third proposal suggests locating the new library on property at the corner of Bucklin Hill Road and Blaine Avenue, next to Clear Creek and across from the Old Mill Park.
Architect Steve Rice, working on behalf of KRL, presented a preliminary analysis of the three sites to the KRL Board of Trustees on July 9.
You can share your opinions about the site options by visiting the Silverdale Library. A display there explains the proposals and there are comment forms you can submit. You are also encouraged to share your thoughts about the options with KRL by e-mail to jbrody(at)KRL.org.
The KRL Board will accept public comment at a public hearing before its July 22 regular meeting. That public hearing will start at 5:30 p.m. and will take place in Scout Hall, next to the Silverdale Library.
The public comment period will end Aug. 15, and the Board is scheduled to select the new Silverdale Library site on Aug. 26.
