The Kitsap Regional Library Board of Trustees was unanimous in selecting a site at the corner of Bucklin Hill Road and Blaine Avenue, adjacent to Clear Creek, for the location of the new Silverdale Library.
You can view the press release with the news and statements from each Board member concerning their decision.
You can see a development analysis of the four sites that were proposed, a review of public comments and the scores for the four sites based on KRL's site selection criteria. You can also see the original proposal for the Bucklin Hill Road and Blaine Avenue site.
Now that a site has been selected, KRL will begin negotiations for the purchase of the property. The library system also will seek design and architectural services to create a design concept and rendering for a library at the Clear Creek site to assist in fundraising (you can see a copy of our RFQ here).
An estimated $6.85 million will have to be raised to build the new library. The fundraising effort will be spearheaded by the Kitsap Regional Library Foundation, which will be seeking private donations and grants for that purpose. KRL does not plan to begin construction until it has the money or pledges in hand to pay for the project.
