Being a good neighbor

One thing I love to do as a librarian is put up book displays. This month, as I gathered books on the theme of "Be a Good Neighbor," I found titles that really energized me and put me in a good mood. After all, the Samaritan spirit fills you with enthusiasm, goodwill, compassion and inspiration.

You have the ability to change the world. Whether your world is your city, your neighborhood, your circle of friends, your family, or within yourself, you can change it! All you have to do is choose to say yes to whatever is calling you.

New Year, New Series

Many people love a series! They enjoy watching characters grow, relationships change, and worlds being created. Some readers read the books right when they come out and wait in anticipation until the next one is released. Others like to hear about a series that has several titles so that they can dive in and read them all straight through -- kind of like binge watching your favorite t.v. show! One thing I know for sure is that everyone hates when their favorite series is over.

The Library as a whole body experience

It's common knowledge that the library caters to your research and entertainment needs. You visit the library to do homework, to borrow books or dvds, to use a computer, and even to make copies. But did you know that the library can be a place for activities beyond these common uses? Visiting the library not only provides a work out for your mind and imagination, but can also offer programs for your whole body.

Books for the Whole Family to Snuggle Up With

Whether you are in your favorite chair, alone by the fire, or snuggled up with the kids, it is that time of year. When it's cold outside there is nothing better than getting cozy with a book in one hand and a cup of tea in the other. These books are sure to settle your holiday stress and warm your heart this season. Here you'll find a little something for all members of the family, and maybe even an idea for a gift or two.
