Do You Have...?

Before school gets out, Youth Services Librarians visit the local schools to tell students about the Library’s Summer Learning program. I love visiting each classroom and engaging with the students, they always have the best questions.  Oftentimes students want to know if we have a particular book, or books about a certain subject.  The answer?  We do, at least 99% anyway.  We have all kinds of books, as wide, weird, and wonderful as only the human brain can imagine.  Here is just a small sample of some of the more unique titles in our collection:

Preventing Summer Slide

Summer Learning has begun and all of the Youth Services Librarians at Kitsap Regional Library have been visiting schools and getting kids and teens excited about reading and learning! There are definite incentives for reading at the library. If you read ten hours, you get a free book of your choice and a ticket to the Kitsap County Fair. If you read 100 hours, you get to pick one of our limited edition 100 hour reader t-shirts and you get your picture on our Facebook page.

Grown-Ups, Let's Give the Kids a Little Summer Learning Competition

As we edge toward the end of summer (North Kitsap School District students start school again on August 31) library staff has been delighted by a steady stream of children who have completed their ten hours of reading for Summer Learning. Nothing makes us happier than getting to talk with the sometimes shy, sometimes not so shy, young people who patiently wait in line in order to proudly show staff their completed trackers and receive their prizes- a book and a Kitsap County Fair ticket.
