What is the Poulsbo branch refresh project?
Last updated in 2001, the Poulsbo branch is in need of some necessary updates, including: new furniture, carpet, paint and electrical work. In addition, we will be improving the overall Library experience by adding more seating including a small study room, better sight lines and lighting, as well as creating a safer space for children and families away from the main entrance.

What is specifically happening in the youth area?
With the passage of the 2017 library levy, Kitsap Regional Library committed to improving spaces for children and teens throughout our library system. In Poulsbo, we are planning to fulfill that promise this year. For teens, we are adding new computers, new furniture and a location with a bit more flexibility. We will have mobile shelving in this area, so the space can be rearranged for programs and gatherings. Also, we currently do not have a designated space especially for children ages 10-12 (tweens).  With the planned space rearrangement, we will be able to create an area just for them with new furniture and mobile shelving as well. For younger children and families, we are creating a space adjacent to the tween area with natural light and new furniture.

When will this project happen?
This project is ongoing and the Library is temporarily closed. Date for reopening is to be determined.

Why will this take 12 weeks?
We are implementing a number of improvements such as new carpet, lighting and paint that will entail moving all of the furniture, shelving and collections, as well as removing everything off of the walls. We are also going to bring in more natural light by installing new windows where there are currently none. In addition, we will be taking extra care to make sure all of the beautiful finishes are matched while making these improvements. And when all the work is complete, we will need to meet with building inspectors and move everything back in place.

Want to help?
Starting Monday, March 2, please check out extra items and return them once we reopen.

What will happen to holds during the closure?
Your holds will need to go to another branch of Kitsap Regional Library for pick up during closure. You can change your pick up location and temporarily suspend your holds on our website. If your holds arrive during the closure, we will contact you to determine where you would like to pick up your hold.

What about events, programs and classes during the closure?
Check KRL.org for virtual program details.

Will there still be a Poulsbo Friends of the Library Book Sale on July 18?
This Book Sale has been postponed with a new date to be determined.
