Every Saturday in June, stroll through the Village Green Park for a fun and creative way to combine early literacy and a healthy activity. Famiies can: engage with a story experience nature practice early learning skills and more! The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Poulsbo Parks and Recreation joins with the Library to offer an opportunity for kids and families to experience a story in a new way. During the month of June, families can visit Fish Park to: engage with a story experience nature learn local history and more! After experiencing the StoryWalk®, stop by the Poulsbo branch to pick up a take-home activity during open hours, Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., while supplies last. Stroll through the pages of "How to Find a Bird," written by Jennifer Ward and illustrated by Diana Sudyka, in Manchester's qa'qad Stormwater Park.  Pick up a related activity bag during the Manchester branch's open hours.  This program is offered in partnership with the Stormwater Division of Kitsap County Public Works, and with the support of the Friends of Manchester Library.   The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Enjoy an interactive story with your family as you stroll through the pages of  "Waiting for Wings" by Lois Ehlert at Silverdale's Whispering Firs Stormwater Park, open from dawn 'till dusk.  Join us on Earth Day (Friday 4/22) for an outdoor storytime, crafting opportunity, and take home a Pollinator Pal kit to plant your own butterfly friendly flowers! Visit kcowa.us/naturalyardcare for natural yard care resources, to register for free webinars in April, and for discounts on organic fertilizer throughout April and May. Families can enjoy Kitsap Salmon Tours independently by strolling through the pages of "Run Salmon Run" by Bobs & Lolo at Dickerson Creek Salmon Haven. Stroll through the pages of a story scattered throughout downtown Port Orchard. "Rain Before Rainbows" by Smriti Prasadam-Halls features a message of hope and resilience supported by David Litchfield's gorgeous and vibrant artwork, and may inspire you to share your story of both rain and rainbows in a community story project. Update: Due to the destruction of several StoryWalk Posts by vandals, the StoryWalk has been taken down. We apologize for those who had plans to do this in the next 8 days. Walk down the Clear Creek Trail while reading "About Birds" by Cathryn Sill along the way. Activity kits can be picked up from the Silverdale branch to enhance the learning experience. Discovery Play Days are presented in partnership with the Clear Creek Trail Task Force.
