Storytime in Kiwanis Park

Encourage your child’s love of reading with an outdoor, socially-distanced storytime designed to build early literacy skills through stories, songs, rhymes and full-body movement. Bring something to sit on. In partnership with Bremerton Parks & Recreation. Registration required. Free lunch for children and teens age 18 and under provided by Bremerton School District, 11:55 a.m.-12:05 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through August 18 at Kiwanis Park.

Enjoy a Kona shaved ice cone (while supplies last) and collect your 10 and 100-hour reading prizes. If you are unable to attend the celebration, drop by the branch during open hours August 4 to 31 to pick up your reading prizes. 

Bainbridge Island StoryWalk

Stroll through the pages of a story at Battle Point Park, anytime during park hours. Pick up an activity kit from the Bainbridge Island branch. In partnership with Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District and Washington Talking Book & Braille Library. Patrons who are unable to read standard print due to visual impairment, physical disability, or reading disability can request accommodation from the Library.

Discovery Play Days: StoryWalk "About Birds"

Update: Due to the destruction of several StoryWalk Posts by vandals, the StoryWalk has been taken down. We apologize for those who had plans to do this in the next 8 days. Walk down the Clear Creek Trail while reading "About Birds" by Cathryn Sill along the way. Activity kits can be picked up from the Silverdale branch to enhance the learning experience. Discovery Play Days are presented in partnership with the Clear Creek Trail Task Force.

News Kids Can Use

Catch up and discuss the latest weird, wacky, and straight-up strange things going on in the world with this short YouTube video. With everything from space to dinosaurs to snacks to feelings, we’re talking about what’s making your grown-ups freak out, and what you can do about it. You can also write to us at newskidscanuse@krl.org with your opinions, topic requests, and especially if you have something to teach us about the news.  

Sylvan Way Outdoor Movie Night

Join us for an outdoor movie and pick up your Summer Learning prizes if you missed our main prize event.  Bring your own blanket, snacks and drinks.  Registration Required.  

Virtual Read to a Dog

Grab your favorite books and read to a fuzzy buddy on your Zoom screen. Sign up online for a spot and practice your reading skills with confidence.   Additional Read to a Dog events will take place on July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Unique registration links are available for each event date.
