Outdoor Explorers: Interactive StoryWalk®

Poulsbo Parks and Recreation joins with the Library to offer an opportunity for kids and families to experience a story in a new way. During the month of June, families can visit Fish Park to: engage with a story experience nature learn local history and more! After experiencing the StoryWalk®, stop by the Poulsbo branch to pick up a take-home activity during open hours, Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., while supplies last. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.  

Summer Learning Kickoff Craft: Rock Art

Kick off Summer Learning by making a special rock to take home and read with over the summer or to decorate your garden. Show off your creative and artistic abilities! All materials will be provided; bring only your imagination.

qa'qad Stormwater Park StoryWalk®

Stroll through the pages of "How to Find a Bird," written by Jennifer Ward and illustrated by Diana Sudyka, in Manchester's qa'qad Stormwater Park.  Pick up a related activity bag during the Manchester branch's open hours.  This program is offered in partnership with the Stormwater Division of Kitsap County Public Works, and with the support of the Friends of Manchester Library.   The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Meet and socialize with other esteemed tweens as we tackle new grown-up problems each month and share free advice with the wisdom-seeking public.

Star Wars Day Kid Science Workshop

Explore the concepts of light and shadow in this afternoon workshop. Using curriculum from Leap into Science, engineered by The Franklin Institute, kids can become scientists for the Rebel Alliance experimenting with how the forces of light and shadows interact and change. Leap into Science is a program designed to build interest and skills in science and literacy for children and their caregivers. This program will begin with a Star Wars story and then scientists can explore stations around the galaxy on their own. May the 4th be with you.

Mother's Day Crafts

Join us for an afternoon of crafting something special for the important women in your lives! Prepare for light mess. 

Blooming in Spring

Make colorful May flowers using pipe cleaners or a 3-D printing pen--or both-- to wear or carry home.

Family Art Party: Pollinator Pals

Attract pollinators to your garden by using your artistic skills to beautify flowerpots and upcycle half-gallon cartons into beautiful birdfeeders.  Attendance is limited to the first 25 kids and their adults. *If you have your own half-gallon carton that you'd like to upcycle, feel free to bring it for decorating! (Rinsed and dried is best.)*

Kingston Village Green StoryWalk®

Every Satruday in May, stroll through the Village Green Park for a fun and creative way to combine early literacy and a healthy activity. Famiies can: engage with a story experience nature practice early learning skills and more! Family storytime

Spark your child's love of learning with a socially-distanced storytime including stories, songs, rhymes and full-body movement designed to build early literacy skills and develop socio-emotional awareness. Capactiy is limited.
