Family STEM: Light & Shadow

A socially-distanced science exploration workshop about light and shadow, using curriculum from Leap into Science, engineered by The Franklin Institute. Leap into Science is a program designed to build interest and skills in science and literacy for children and their caregivers.  Attendance will be limited to the first 10 children and their caregivers to allow for social distancing and is first come, first served. 

Family storytime

Spark your child's love of learning with a socially-distanced storytime including stories, songs, rhymes and full-body movement designed to build early literacy skills and develop socio-emotional awareness. Capactiy is limited.

Kitsap Eco Kids: Stormwater Park Storytime

Celebrate Earth Day with an outdoor storytime, crafting opportunity, and guided StoryWalk experience. Families can take home a Pollinator Pal kit to plant butterfly friendly flowers! Visit kcowa.us/naturalyardcare for natural yard care resources, to register for free webinars in April, and for discounts on organic fertilizer throughout April and May. This program is offered in partnership with the Stormwater Division of Kitsap County Public Works.   Stroll through the pages of our Stormwater StoryWalk: "Waiting for Wings" by Lois Ehlert at your leisure through May 22nd. Stormwater Park hours are from dawn 'till dusk. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.  

Kitsap Eco Kids: Clear Creek Tree Team

​You can help salmon thrive and orcas survive by adopting a tree to plant along Clear Creek to provide shade and shelter for salmon. Stop by to pick up your baby tree and care instructions at our adoption event. Help the tree grow strong over the summer and ready it for the planting party along the Clear Creek Trail during Orca Recovery Day in mid-October. Trees can also be planted on your personal property. In partnership with the Clear Creek Task Force whose members provide the trees, dirt and pots.  

Letters to a Friend

Join us for an afternoon of letter writing! We'll go over the basics and give you the supplies to write a couple letters, including letter for a Mobile Services patron and one to take home and drop off at our neighbor the Post Office on the way home.

Family Art Party: Spring Impressions

Celebrate Earth Day and the return of spring by creating beautiful prints with reusable stamps made from recycled materials. Attendance is limited to the first 20 participants.

Mini Maestros

Children ages 4-8 will learn basic elements of music and enjoy active musical play that benefits early literacy and STEM skills. Attendance is limited to the first 20 participants per program. There are two programs each morning: 10:00-10:30 & 10:45 - 11:15.

Earth Day Gardening Party

Celebrate Earth Day with an afternoon of garden projects! You'll get to take something fun home and watch it grow, registration required.
