Young Adult 2025 Checkout All-Stars
For YA readers, fantasy and dystopia reigned supreme. Checkouts in the genre showcased a variety of themes and moods, from cozy and cute fantasies to dark and romantic titles, all led by protagonists standing up against injustice and cruelty.

Nonfiction & Fiction 2025 Checkout All-Stars
Kitsap Regional Library nonfiction readers showed varied tastes in 2025, selecting from a wide range of books, including a self-help book from a popular podcaster, titles from both Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates, a travelogue from Rick Steves' early days, and essays about how nature and people intertwine in Seattle.
Thrillers continued to dominate this year, followed closely by all flavors of romance with lots of love for Washington state authors. Across genres, readers sought out stories full of complex and flawed characters, emotionally intense situations, and tempering humor. Ultimately, they gravitated towards authenticity in tone, authorship, and characterization, through books that moved them and led to individual and collective connection.
