The Bainbridge Island branch, including curbside service, will be closed through Saturday, November 29, while the building owner, Bainbridge Public Library, conducts installation of solar panels on the facility.
This important improvement is funded and managed by Bainbridge Public Library, a nonprofit corporation that owns, operates, and maintains the Library building and grounds through community donations and grants.
During this closure, our building manager and partner, Bainbridge Public Library, will enhance the building’s energy efficiency and sustainability for years to come. The Library and Bainbridge Public Library initially did not anticipate that the installation would impact library services; however, after conferring with contractors, it became clear that the planned work would present significant safety and access challenges for staff and the public alike. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, we are suspending library services on the premises for the duration of the month.
We recognize that this notice is shorter than usual and apologize for the inconvenience. To support continued access to library services:
- A temporary book drop is available in the branch parking lot, adjacent to High School Road.
- Due dates for items currently checked out have been extended to December 6.
- Hold pickup opportunities are being reviewed; we will share updates as soon as a plan is in place.
We encourage you to visit nearby branches in Kingston, Little Boston, or Poulsbo during the closure. Find hours and directions at krl.org/locations.
Thank you for your understanding as Bainbridge Public Library completes this work. We look forward to welcoming you back soon to a more energy-efficient Bainbridge Island library!
