Hispanic Heritage Month 2026

In 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson set aside a week to recognize the contributions Hispanic and Latine Americans have made to the United States, and 20 years later, President Ronald Reagan expanded this recognition to a full month. Rather than covering a single month, Hispanic Heritage Month starts September 15 and ends October 15, allowing the original week to overlap with the Independence days of many Central and South American countries, including September 15 (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua), September 16 (Mexico), September 18 (Chile), and September 21 (Belize).
