Friends of the Library
Friends of the Library groups are organized at most Kitsap Regional Library locations. Through fundraising events such as book sales, Friends groups raise money for items not in the library's budget. Joining a Friends of the Library group is a wonderful way to support your Library location. Looking for a way to get involved? If so, your Friends group needs you!
You can help us by:
- Donating your skills and time to help strengthen your Library location.
- Serving as a volunteer at special Library events.
- Promoting the resources our Library brings to the community.
- Volunteering at Friends of the Library book sales, which raise funds for equipment, materials and other library projects.
Projects sponsored by Friends of the Library include:
- Children's reading awards
- Entertaining and educational programs
- Library equipment and fixtures
- Grounds beautification
- Concert series
How do I join?
Most Friends groups ask that members pay nominal annual dues and volunteer limited amounts of time to fundraising projects, community events and meeting attendance.
If you are interested in joining a local Friends group, you are encouraged to attend a meeting or your local library.

The Friends group welcomes new members.
Port Orchard Friends of the Library support the library by contributing to services and raising funds for library programs, furnishings and equipment beyond the means of Kitsap Regional Library. All are encouraged to attend work parties and meetings. There is no cost for membership.
The Friends accept gently used books, magazines and other media materials throughout the year to be sold inside the library and at book sale events. All proceeds from book sales directly benefit the library. The Friends also accept monetary donations, which are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated.

The Friends of the Silverdale Library (FOSL) has supported library programs for nearly 70 years. FOSL was the first to donate money, a gift of $100,000, toward the building of a new Silverdale library and funded the playground on the south end of the Central High School campus, where the Silverdale library is located.
All proceeds from book sales go to support the library.
Quarterly meetings are held at 10:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of January, April, July and October. FOSL is always looking for new members.
